South Carolina #3 in Top States for Doing Business Survey

South Carolina is #3

Area Development conducted a survey of site selection professionals to determine the top states for doing business, South Carolina placed 3rd. The survey consisted of 8 criteria:
1. Lowest business costs
2. Most business friendly
3. Corporate tax environment
4. Overall labor climate
5. Work force development programs
6. Fast-track permitting
7. Rail and highway accessibility
8. Shovel-ready sites

South Carolina Takes Top Honors

South Carolina was the most selected state in the Low Costs category. South Carolina placed 2nd in the aggregate category of Cost, Business Friendliness, and Taxes.

Area Development wrote this about South Carolina in the aggregate category: “South Carolina’s business cost environment has attracted a slew of high-profile business relocations and expansions to the Palmetto State. Boeing selected the state for a $750 million, 1.2 million-square-foot facility that is expected to create 4,000 jobs. And Korean electric vehicle maker CT&T collaborated with the homegrown 2AM Group on an electric car facility.”

South Carolina is Top 5

South Carolina placed in the Top 5 in the Permitting, Infrastructure, and Shovel-Ready aggregate category as well. Area Development wrote this: “South Carolina’s permitting and infrastructure policies helped attracted some high profile investments this year. Boeing selected the Palmetto State for a new $750 million facility. Germany’s ZF Group chose South Carolina for a $350 million manufacturing site. And Pulcra Chemicals chose it for a new company headquarters.”
