New Carolina to Grow the Carolina Nuclear Cluster

New Carolina Receives SBA Innovative Economies Grant

South Carolina’s Council on Competitiveness, or New Carolina, received a $600,000 SBA Innovative Economies grant to grow the nuclear industry and cluster in the Carolinas. New Carolina was one of only 10 entities nationwide to receive a grant. New Carolina will identify gaps in the global nuclear supply chain, determine which small businesses can fill the gaps and connect those businesses with opportunities. Also, it will identify new technologies that are being developed at the state’s universities and technical colleges and help create start-up companies.
